David DeWitt offers essay tutoring that draws on his background teaching writing at Syracuse and five other colleges or universities, as well as two Bronx high schools and the New York Governor's School for the Arts. Recently he taught a monthlong memoir writing workshop at Camp Rehoboth in Delaware and edited two books: Tommy Demenkoff's Actor With a Badge: Attempting Life as a Theatrician on the School-to-Prison Pipeline and Jordan Stein's Stephen Kaltenbach: Portrait of My Father. He's also an 18-year veteran of The New York Times, working mostly as an editor and critic on the Arts desk, plus 10 years at other newspapers. His writing has also appeared in Salon, The Arts Fuse, American Theatre, Southern Exposure, TDF Stages, and other publications. He was in the doctoral program in English at the University of Tennessee and has a master's in composition and pedagogy as well as a master's in acting, both from the University of South Carolina.
